China's key steel mills registered a 0.33% growth in daily output of crude steel to 2.19 Mt over April 11-20, showed the latest data from China Iron and Steel Association (CISA).

The output, however, represented a 7.47% decline year on year and a 5.23% decrease compared to the same period two years ago.

These steel mills collectively produced 21.19 million tonnes of crude steel over this period, the CISA said.

Based on this, it's estimated that the nationwide daily output of crude steel amounted to 2.53 million tonnes over April 11-20, a 0.26% increase compared to the previous ten days.

Over this period, these key steel mills produced 1.90 million tonnes of pig iron each day, down 0.55% compared to the previous ten days. Similarly, it experienced a 6.18% decline year on year and a 3.08% decrease compared to the same period two years ago.

The daily output of finished steel reached 2.05 million tonnes, representing a 3.72% increase compared to ten days ago. Nevertheless, it recorded a 6.85% decline year on year and a 4.92% decrease compared to the same period two years ago.

Nationwide, crude steel output was estimated to be 2.53 million tonnes each day, up 0.26% from ten days ago. The daily output of pig iron reached 2.19 million tonnes, a 0.44% decrease from the previous ten days, while that of finished steel reached 34.34 million tonnes, marking a 1.90% increase from ten days ago.

On April 20, these key steel mills held approximately 18.12 million tonnes of finished steel in stock. This represents a decrease of 0.75% from April 10, a 7.26% decrease from a month earlier, and down 2.29% and 7.89% from the same period last year and two years ago.
